Overview

Garmin Antenna Cable 10 Meters (010-11454-00) — Marine-Grade Connectivity for GPS and AIS Systems

Introduction

The Garmin Antenna Cable 010-11454-00 is a 10-meter marine-grade connection cable engineered to reliably transmit GPS and AIS signals between compatible Garmin antennas and chartplotters. Built for saltwater environments, this cable delivers consistent signal integrity across extended distances, making it essential for vessels that depend on accurate navigation and real-time vessel tracking.

Key Features

  • Length: 10 meters (32 feet) — provides installation flexibility for vessel layouts ranging from center consoles to large cruisers
  • Compatibility: Works with Garmin GA 38 GPS/GLONASS Antenna and Garmin AIS 600 Blackbox Transceiver systems
  • Signal Retention: Engineered to maintain up to 98% signal integrity over long cable runs
  • Connector Type: Corrosion-resistant BNC-style connectors to prevent oxidation in humid marine climates
  • Weather Resistance: Rated for UV exposure, saltwater spray, and sustained moisture contact without performance degradation
  • Flexibility: Cable diameter and construction allow routing through tight spaces and around hardware without kinking or signal loss

Data Insights

Marine electronics installations often suffer from signal degradation when cables exceed 6 meters in length. This cable maintains the 98% signal retention metric even at its full 10-meter specification, a critical advantage for larger vessels where antenna-to-chartplotter distances are unavoidable. This performance level directly impacts GPS accuracy and AIS reception reliability, both essential for collision avoidance and navigation in congested waters.

Usage Instructions

Install the cable by firmly connecting the male BNC connectors to both the antenna and the compatible Garmin chartplotter until hand-tight. Route the cable away from power lines and engine harnesses to minimize electromagnetic interference. Avoid sharp bends with radii smaller than 2 inches. After installation, visually inspect connectors monthly and after heavy weather to ensure no corrosion or loosening has occurred. If the vessel sits unused for extended periods, apply a light coat of dielectric grease to connectors to maintain corrosion resistance.

Design & Material

The antenna cable balances durability with ease of installation. The overall design prioritizes practical marine use while withstanding the demanding conditions of offshore and coastal boating.

  • Marine-grade coaxial cable with low-loss construction to preserve signal quality across the full 10-meter run
  • Outer jacket composed of UV-stabilized, abrasion-resistant polymer rated for continuous sun exposure
  • Shielded conductor design minimizes noise pickup from nearby electronics and engine systems
  • Corrosion-resistant BNC connectors with nickel-plated brass bodies and stainless-steel hardware
  • Lightweight construction (under 1 pound) reduces installation strain on mounting brackets and connectors
  • Flexible design allows coiling and routing without inducing kinks or internal conductor damage

Final Verdict

For boaters relying on Garmin GA 38 or AIS 600 systems, the 010-11454-00 cable is the correct replacement or extension solution. Its 10-meter length, marine-specific construction, and proven signal integrity make it indispensable for vessels where reliable navigation and collision avoidance depend on uninterrupted antenna connectivity. Install with confidence knowing this cable meets the electrical and environmental demands of real marine use.
